Mixing
I recorded a mix over the weekend – something I’ve been meaning to do for months, but rarely remember to do while I’m playing.
It’s a blend of minimal and progressive electroish stuff. Tracks I like currently, basically. Recorded on an APC40 and LPD8.

Track ID on 48 mins in? Very interesting – sorta like Daft but not. I haven’t heard anything like that in a while.

53 was pretty sick the way you brought in deadmau5.

That’s Wolfgang Gartner. Good producer.

What? No way. I know Wolfgang Gartner… which track? I thought I had all of his stuff. Wolfgang Gartner and Deadmau5 produce very similar stuff at times.

But less complex than you’d think. I was just playing a remix of the track by Elite Force.
I’ve found this pretty consistently about DJing. The stuff that sounds impressive is often actually pretty easy to do: and the real skill is sort of behind the scenes: learning the tricks/shortcuts, choosing the right tracks, doing things smoothly and with confidence. Not that I’m an expert on good DJing, but I’ve corroborated this with much more experienced DJs than I.
